A Survey of The Nursing Interventions performed by Hospital Nurses using the NIC in Korea

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the frequency of nursing interventions performed by Korean nurses to validate the taxonomy of NIC in Korea. The 443 NIC wa translated into Korean, and then modified by panel group, which consist of clinical experts and nursing scholars, and finally the 426 NIC was selected.
The Questionnaire include name and definition of each nursing intervention, and 138 nurses who are working in general hospitals have checked frequency of nursing interventions they have done for three days.
Korean nurses performed all 426 interventions and the 21 among the 426 NIC were peformed more than one time per day. The high frequency of performed nursing intervention were as follows ; medication : oral(2.08), medication : parenteral(2.18), active listening(2.01), vital sign monitoring(2.17). And significant differences were not represented as the characteristics of nursing unit. and the most frequently undergone nursing interventions were in the physiological domain and behavioral domain.
Further study will be needed to validate nursing activities of each intervention of NIC.
